GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The two candidates for the 8th Congressional District met face-to-face for a live primetime debate on Friday, Sept. 27 on WBAY. Kaukauna native Dr. Kristin Lyerly, a Democrat is a gynecologist and obstetrician. Republican Tony Wied is the former owner of six Dino Stop gas stations and convenience stores. Wied and Lyerly are both running for their first public office.
The debate was held before an audience at the Mauthe Center on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and was moderated by longtime Action 2 News anchor Cami Rapson. Action 2 News political reporter Jason Zimmerman and Green Bay Press-Gazette community and politics reporter Jesse Lin along with UWGB and St. Norbert students asked questions of the candidates.
