Wisconsin State Senate District 1 Candidate Forum
Available for viewing online
The public can access the recorded forum on the Door County League of Women Voters (LWVDC) webpage: lwvdoorcounty.org
Candidate Andrea Gage-Michaels (D) is challenging Andre Jacque (R) on the November 8th ballot to become Northeast Wisconsin’s State Senator for District 1.
(Viewers can also watch the LWVDC recording of the July Assembly District 1 candidate forum which was held before the August primary election.)
Both candidate forums were organized and run by the Door County League of Women Voters as a public service and hosted by Southern Door Schools.
About 70 voters attended the October 10th Senate forum. They posed questions to the candidates about priorities, election laws, partisanship, reproductive and LGBTQ rights, mental health, schools, daycare, gun control, and local environmental and broadband issues and more. Each candidate had two (2) minutes to respond to each question.
Senate District 1 covers all of Door and Kewaunee counties along with portions of Brown,
Manitowoc, Outagamie and Calumet Counties.
Candidate Forums are one part of the Door County League of Women Voters’ mission and nonpartisan effort to inform voters about candidates and elections in a fair and unbiased manner. The League promotes the idea that ‘Democracy is not a spectator sport’ and urges you to ‘get in the game’.
