Barb Tengesdal, Ph.D., Executive Director of First 5 Fox Valley and Julie Stoffel, Director of Engagement and Community Outreach for the Wisconsin Early Childcare Association, along with a parent representative will take attendees through a series of engaging role play scenarios and table discussion. We'll explore the current state of childcare and its critical impact on families, from economic challenges to access and quality of care. We'll learn the challenges facing parents today when seeking quality childcare in the Fox Valley.

Through this program their goal will be to Identify issues that affect a crumbling childcare infrastructure in Wisconsin, and responses needed from families, communities and policy makers.

Registration is required. Cost to attend is $30 per person. All are welcome.

As our League programs include a call to action, we will replace the silent auction with an  opportunity for giving. We are asking attendees to bring items needed by area childcare providers to the event. Whether you'll be at the brunch or unable to attend, gift cards or checks payable to LWV Appleton-Fox Cities would be welcomed. Please indicate the cards or checks Support Childcare Needs in the Community. 
 
Below are a few suggestions to warm the holidays for others: 

Wrap It in a Backpack
Busy moms pack their families' daily needs in a backpack, leaving them hands-free for carrying a little one or navigating the day. Children and preschoolers also cart important stuff in backpacks between home and daycare. Save the basket and gather your gifts into a backpack with pockets and dividers for either parents or children. 

Bath and To Bed:* gentle baby/child body wash; towels of all sizes, including hooded towels; bath toys; washcloths; bath safety items; dental care (not mint); hair brushes. * Be aware of potential allergies, etc.
Nightie Night: New crib or twin size sheets; pillows; blankets, taggie blankets; "buddies;" slippers; pajamas
Basics: underwear; socks; diapers; gas or grocery gift cards
Winter Wear: snow pants; boots; insulated mittens; warm socks
Comfort Care: a stuffed animal; books; blanket throw, puzzles; games, etc.
