League Elects Board Members, Selects Focus Topic

 At its annual meeting Thursday, May 23, the League of Women Voters of Appleton-Fox Cities elected new board members to two-year terms, and agreed to focus attention for the coming year on public safety in the Fox Cities.

Joining the Board for the first time will be Miriam Douglass as Treasurer and Jan Smith as Program Director. Re-elected were Jacqui Klimaszewski as Vice-President of Voter Services and Kathy Voigt as Director of Communications and Technology.
 
Members agreed to focus on revisiting a previous study on public safety which was conducted in the 1970s. League studies form the basis for its nonpartisan positions.

Affordable Senior Housing
This program was changed to virtual due to a Covid outbreak at Brewster Village, and the facility tour was cancelled. The program was recorded and is available for viewing on the League’s YouTube channel HERE.

Environment Justice: Problems and Solutions
LWV of Appleton-Fox Cities was one of more than a dozen local Wisconsin Leagues to co-sponsor a virtual program hosted by LWV of the La Crosse area titled "Achieving Environmental Justice in Wisconsin" held on February 13.  Click HERE to view the recording of the program on the LWV La Crosse Area YouTube.
