In May 2025, LWVUS launched the "Unite & Rise 8.5" initiative with one goal in mind: to activate 8.5 million people to rise up and take action through peaceful yet powerful civic engagement to defend and preserve our democracy. Backed by research from the Carr Ryan Center for Human Rights at Harvard Kennedy School, we believe that civic education paired with strong non-violent action provide the most effective path to lasting change and protection of our constitution. Local Leagues all across Wisconsin are leading this movement to protect and defend our democracy by and for the people. LEARN more about this historic grassroots movement, including actions you can take weekly to "turn up the heat" on elected officials and stand up for our constitution. As LWV of Appleton-Fox Cities builds its energy around issues that impact and affect us, we invite you to SHARE your concerns and ideas with us. Watch this page for specific ways you can "do something" to effect positive change as we "Unite and Rise."
AUGUST 11 PRIMARY ELECTION NEEDS YOU!
A robust field of candidates for important state offices — including Governor — faces voters. Traditionally, voting in primaries is light, which means that it is especially important for voters to be heard. Your vote is your voice! Make a plan today to cast your vote, either in advance or on election day. LWVWI invites all statewide candidates in every election to complete Vote411.org survey questions. LWVAFC is trying something new this year to help voters compare a high number of candidate answers with a single view. We consolidated the vote411.org guide information for Governor to give you another visual regarding the effectiveness of using vote411.org tools to assist you in your informed vote decision-making. The “Governor Guide” includes directs to the candidates’ websites, socials, announcements etc. as provided by the candidates. It also includes candidates’ rationale as to why they feel best suited for the role and their answers to several survey questions. Below are graphics, and here is a link to download a PDF (for those who would like better legibility).
